Badminton Rules

Overview

A badminton match consists of three(3) games. A match is won in best of three (3) games. A game is won by the team who reaches a score of twenty one (21). In the event of tie upon reaching the score of twenty (20) the game is called for a slide. A slide means that a team must lead by at least two(2) points in order to win the game, however, their points should not exceed thirty (30) point. Whoever reaches thirty (30) points first will win the game.

To start the game a toss is initiated to determine whose team will commence the service first. Service is commenced by the server hitting the shuttle cock across the court towards the receiver. The same way as a tennis serve is done.

Service

A service is performed by the server hitting the shuttlecock towards the receiver at the opposite side of the court. Service is based on the current points acquired. If the current points acquired by the server is an odd number then he should commence the service starting from the left side of the court towards the right. If the server's point is an even number then he should commence the service from the right side of the court towards the left side of the court.

Point
A point is acquired by successfully putting the shuttlecock aground at the opponent's side of the court.
